It’s not uncommon to feel apprehensive about aging. Stereotypes, misconceptions, and fear of the unknown can lead us to believe that aging is simply not something to look forward to.
Most people don’t think about senior living until they need to or until it’s relevant to them and their family. Because of this, there are many misconceptions surrounding the senior living industry and the types of care available. For example, when most people think of senior living, they think “nursing home” or (the more ageist idea) “old folk’s home.”
The new year is a time for new beginnings, growth, change, and goals—both personal and professional. Maybe you feel like you’re in a rut from sitting at a desk day in and day out, maybe you’re tired of working with people who are too similar to you, or maybe you just don’t feel fulfilled and are longing to make an impact.

When you’ve had a bad day, you’ve probably had someone tell you to “look on the bright side” or “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” While these talks can sometimes be unhelpful at the moment, the people giving them may have the right outlook: positivity.
Everyone has had a lapse in memory at some point. We’ve all forgotten the name of that great movie we watched last weekend, blanked on someone’s name, or couldn’t think of the word that’s right on the tip of our tongue. When we are younger, we tend not to think anything of these “brain fogs,” brushing them off as mere absentmindedness. As we get older, though, these momentary lapses of memory become more concerning.
The holidays are a time to spend with family and loved ones—shopping, decorating, baking treats and cookies. One of the best things about this time of year is partaking in annual holiday traditions. Whether they’re classic, quirky, or sentimental, holiday traditions and rituals allow us to connect with our family and celebrate with a warm feeling of nostalgia.
VERO BEACH, Florida - December 11, 2020 – Harbor Retirement Associates will make the COVID-19 vaccine available to associates and residents at all HarborChase communities (not the general public). All residents will be eligible to receive the optional vaccine. All associates are strongly encouraged to receive the vaccine in an effort to continue to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Getting enough exercise can be hard enough, but during the winter—with colder temperatures, wind, and (depending on your location) snow—it can be even more challenging. When it comes to choosing between exercising or curling up on the couch with a cup of tea, we know the decision most people want to make.
The holiday season is a time full of joy, celebration, and togetherness. And while we may focus our time on shopping and gifts, it’s also a time of helping others, giving back, and making a difference.
Typically, giving back during the holiday season involves volunteering at soup kitchens, going caroling, or visiting a hospital, but 2020 has been a unique year. With social distancing regulations in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, we encourage you to get creative when finding ways to give back.
